My friend and I were stopped by a squad car close by Queens Park on our way to Allan Gardens where we assumed the Friday march must have ended up. This was the day before any vandalism or so called riots had occurred. The 2 officers asked to search our bags. We consented because we had heard that under the public works act they could legally do a search for no reason. The cops played good cop, bad cop. With one of them saying that they were stopping us to protect us from the apparently ensuing violence at the protest. He said there was violence, tear gas, molotov cocktails. This seemed a little suspect and we later confirmed that he was lying, (it was just a minor skirmish that day.) The other was basically accusing us of being trouble making cop hating anarchists. ( Mainly due to the way we look). They confiscated our bandanas and my friends goggles (that we had in case of police violence) They threatened to confiscate my memory card of my camera. They also stated that if they saw us again at a protest we would be arrested and now they new who we were and there were cameras everywhere so we better just leave. One repeatedly tried to provoke us into anger, but we kept our calm. After they let us go, we hit another roadblock f police and they searched us as well.
No Police State !!!!
