“several police officers lining the west side of the street had removed their names and badge numbers”

On Friday afternoon, June 25, in the main Gender Justice march, as we all were stopped by police on University Avenue at Elm St., I noticed that several police officers lining the west side of the street had removed their names and badge numbers. I asked for their names and badge numbers and why they had removed them. They maintained stoney silence. Another officer next to them did have his name and number displayed, so I thanked him for his honesty and asked why the others had removed theirs; he said he did not know.
